1. Who We Are

Valor ("we," "us," "our") operates the website at valorevents.net, the Valor Minecraft server, and the associated Discord server. The service is operated from the Netherlands. This Privacy Policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, and what rights you have.

2. What We Collect

When you log in via Discord

We use Discord OAuth to authenticate you on the website. When you log in, Discord shares the following with us:

Your Discord user ID
Your Discord username and display name
Your avatar
Your email address

We store this information so we can keep you logged in, display your identity, and link your supporter status to your account.

When you join our Discord server

Discord itself collects and stores all messages, voice activity, and metadata in accordance with Discord's own privacy policy. Our bot may read messages, roles, and member information needed to operate features (e.g. supporter role lookups, Hall of Fame data, ticket transcripts).

When you connect to the Minecraft server

We log your Minecraft username (IGN), Minecraft UUID, and IP address. IPs are used for moderation, ban enforcement, and abuse prevention. Game events (chat, commands, deaths, builds) are logged for moderation and anti-cheat purposes.

When you visit the website

Our server logs your IP address, user agent, and page requests for security and diagnostic purposes. We use a session cookie to keep you logged in. We do not use third-party advertising or tracking cookies.

When you contribute as a supporter

Payments are processed by third-party platforms — currently Patreon (for recurring tier subscriptions) and Ko-fi (for one-time donations). Each platform has its own privacy policy that governs what they collect from you at checkout:

We do not see or store your card or bank details. From these platforms we receive only the information needed to grant you the correct perks: your supporter username on that platform, the tier or amount, and a payment confirmation. If you choose to link your Discord account to Patreon (via Patreon's official Discord integration), Patreon shares your Discord ID with us so the supporter role can be assigned automatically.

3. How We Use Your Data

To operate the website, Minecraft server, and Discord bot
To authenticate you and persist your session
To enforce community rules, investigate abuse, and apply bans
To deliver supporter perks and recognize supporters publicly (with your username and avatar) on the Hall of Fame page
To respond to support requests and tickets
To improve and maintain the Services

4. Legal Basis (GDPR)

If you are in the European Economic Area or the UK, we process your data under the following legal bases:

Contract — to provide the Services you signed up for (e.g. login, supporter perks)
Legitimate interest — to keep the Services secure, prevent abuse, and improve them
Consent — for any optional features you explicitly opt into
Legal obligation — where we are required by law to retain or disclose data

5. Sharing Your Data

We do not sell your personal data. We share data only with:

Service providers we rely on to operate the Services (hosting, payment processors, Discord, Mojang's authentication services). These providers process data on our behalf.
Legal authorities if required by law, court order, or to protect the rights and safety of Valor or its users.

6. Data Retention

We keep your data for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the Services. Moderation logs (including bans and IPs of banned users) may be retained indefinitely to enforce bans. You may request deletion at any time (see "Your Rights" below); we will honor the request except where we are legally required or have a legitimate interest in retaining specific records (e.g. ban records, payment records for tax/accounting).

7. Your Rights

Depending on your jurisdiction (GDPR, UK GDPR, CCPA, and similar laws), you may have the right to:

Access the personal data we hold about you
Request correction of inaccurate data
Request deletion of your data ("right to be forgotten")
Request a copy of your data in a portable format
Object to or restrict certain processing
Withdraw consent where processing is based on consent
Lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority

8. Cookies

We use a single first-party session cookie to keep you logged in after authenticating with Discord. We do not use third-party advertising or analytics cookies. Your browser settings allow you to clear or block cookies; doing so could sign you out.

9. Children

The Services are not intended for children under 13 (or the minimum age of digital consent in your country). We do not knowingly collect data from children under that age. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, contact us and we will delete it.

10. International Transfers

Our infrastructure and service providers may be located in countries other than your own. By using the Services, you consent to your data being transferred to and processed in those countries, subject to appropriate safeguards.

11. Security

We take reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your data, including HTTPS, hashed sessions, and restricted staff access. No system is perfectly secure, however, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

12. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The "Last updated" date at the top reflects the most recent version. Material changes will be announced on the website or in our Discord.
